 Survival

Our approach to survival training

Survival is not a matter of chance, it's a matter of preparation.

Our 3 to 5-day programs are designed to equip participants with skills and hands-on experience to enhance their resilience and maximise their chances of survival during emergencies and crisis situations.

The knowledge and abilities gained in our courses are not only valuable in extreme circumstances but also applicable to everyday life.

We maintain a low student-to-instructor ratio, allowing personalised attention and guidance throughout the training. Our instructors are professionals with extensive experience in survival, emergency response, and security operations.

We offer three distinct survival courses tailored to different environments:

In this course, you will learn how to work in harsh winter conditions, whether you're deployed to operate in Arctic regions or an adventurer exploring the Nordic wilderness. We will teach you essential skills such as building shelters, starting fires in snowy landscapes, navigating in whiteout conditions, foraging for food, and treating cold-related injuries.

Cold climate survival

Hot climate survival

If you work in desert environments or in tropical jungles, this course is designed to prepare you for the challenges of hot climates. Our instructors will guide you through techniques for finding water sources, constructing shade structures, identifying edible plants, navigating challenging terrains, and dealing with heat-related medical emergencies.

Urban survival

For those operating in hazardous urbanised environments like favelas or other complex cityscapes, our Urban Survival course is essential. Learn how to navigate through dense urban areas, secure shelter and belongings, identify potential threats, handle emergency medical situations, and develop situational awareness. These skills will enhance your safety and confidence in any urban setting, both in your professional and personal life.

About the Mavens Academy

We believe in accelerated learning, meaning we have a compressed curriculum, individual- and group-paced instruction, a practically oriented program and continuous debriefs. We also use Virtual Reality (VR) technology in some of our modules.

All our training and courses take place in a safe learning environment; by creating conditions under which people are encouraged to show themselves and their vulnerabilities, and under which they are not afraid to try and fail. We consider failure to be a success in progress.

We only use experienced, highly skilled professional instructors in our academy, and we always ensure an efficient, fun and safe learning environment.

In our realistic training and scenarios all our instructor role-players have in-depth knowledge about the particular topic and will balance role play with instructions (in role) to maximise desired outcome and learning.
